Dear Brenda,

I have probably lost an entire person from dieting throughout my lifetime. I work in a bank that has a lot of good cooks and lunch time is always the highlight of the day. We’d order something to be delivered that was big and yummy. And of course I was raised by my parents to eat everything on my plate, so I did.

I turned 55 in January 2007, and felt horrible. I was overweight, nothing fit and my blood pressure was out of sight. My doctor wanted to put me on blood pressure medicine. I decided that I was too young to begin taking drugs that would be needed for the rest of my life, so I opted to change my eating habits and join the local gym.

My trainer at the gym asked my about my eating habits and told me I needed to add more fiber to my diet. She gave me a shopping list and I was on my way. It was about a month into my new routine that I heard about the Fiber 35 Diet. What an amazing book. It took what my trainer told me and explained why I needed to add fiber. It was like a light bulb went on in my head, and the book made it all so easy.

I am now 7 months into the program and have lost 40 pounds. The foods that I was addicted to before – bread, pasta, rice, white flour and sugar – are no longer attractive to me. The recipes Brenda shares are so easy to make, with ingredients that are easy to find. And using the sample menus to start, you learn how to eat healthy in the real world. My whole life has changed because of the Fiber 35 Diet.

I hesitate to call The Fiber 35 Diet a diet, however. I have been on so many “diets” that only last a short while and I'd be like a yo-yo. This is a life style that makes sense.

Growing up, I was always overweight. Obesity runs in my family, so at times I felt like I was fighting a losing battle. Yo-yo dieting became a way of life, and even when I would lose a few pounds here or there, I would always gain the weight back (and usually more). For anyone who has had a child, you know how much harder it is to lose weight afterward. It seems like no matter how much you cut back on food or how often you exercise, the pounds just don’t want to come off. After struggling with my weight for over a year after my son was born, someone told me about the Fiber35 Diet. I read the book, and since nothing I was doing was working and it seemed like a sensible weight loss plan, I decided to try it.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has always been important to me, especially since I enjoy preparing meals for my family, and that’s why the Fiber35 Diet was a perfect fit right from the start. Not only could I still enjoy the foods I loved, but I was able to get the vitamins and nutrients my body needed to keep up with my busy lifestyle. No matter who you are...

...there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing real, physical results when you’ve worked so hard to lose weight and get fit. That’s exactly what I see now when I compare how I look today to photographs of me that were taken before I started the Fiber35 Diet. We’ve all heard how it takes sacrifice, determination and hard work to achieve your fitness goals, and it’s all true. In April 2007 I took pictures of myself to see where I was with my fitness goals, and immediately I knew that the pudgy, round-faced person staring back at me was not who I wanted to be. Dear Brenda,

After the birth of my two children, I became another yo-yo dieter. You name the diet; I tried it and gave up when I decided to start “eating” again. Little did I know that the more you play with yo-yos, the heavier and more despondent you become.

Fast forward 35 years...

When a wonderful, kind and caring person gave me a copy of The Fiber35 Diet, I was instantly ready to try something new that focused on ME for a change. The shakes and bars were just the thing for a busy person to kick-start a whole new outlook on life. Following the recipes in the book was easy and didn’t involve a lot of preparation. Prior to starting the Fiber35 Diet program, I simply did not feel healthy. I knew I was overweight, but I also had very little energy, and my cravings tended to rule what I ate. I had begun a workout program about 3 to 4 months before I started the Fiber35 Diet plan and saw no results.

No matter what I tried, nothing seemed to work.

In the past I had tried other popular weight loss plans, including Weight Watchers. But even though it seemed to work for my sister, it didn’t work with my busy schedule. I just didn’t have the time to stop and look up everything I put in my mouth to see whether I could eat it or not. Essentially, I was searching for a diet that I could stick with but that didn’t really feel like a diet. I needed a program that would allow me to feel like I was eating normally—something I didn’t have to think about every minute.

The Fiber35 Diet is perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle. Now if I’m running late, I can quickly make a shake or grab a fiber bar and I’m out the door. Both taste great and I know that they are healthy and high in fiber. Plus, the bars and shakes are filling, so I don’t start craving anything by mid-morning. Another great perk is that because I have increased the amount of fiber I eat each day, I don’t get the cravings for sweet foods that I did before I started the program. Plus, I’m eating much healthier throughout the day.

Of course, the biggest change I noticed since I began the Fiber35 Diet is the weight I have lost. I was working out constantly with no results until I started the program, and it was only then that I saw a big drop in my weight.
